The 500 Dollar Budget in Thailand

Retirement Fund

Many people that come to Thailand come in thinking, I can do this cheap because everyone says so and then proceed to blow every dime in a week. Stop it is very easy to live here for 500 dollars a month or I have done it on 3oo before just to see if it can be done, it can. The trick to all this is saving money and self-control. This will be a guide and a kind of step by step of living in Thailand on a budget.

Budget :

  1. Get a budget app
  2. Convert all your money at the first of the month and get a local account at the bank. saves fees.
  3. Get a Condo or house away from the city centers
  4. Shop at the local farmers markets
  5. Wash your own clothes, laundry mat all over
  6. Get a bike, petrol is cheap here

I will give a breakdown of my budget for last month.

  • Rent – 3,500 Baht
  • Food – 3,000 Baht per person, 2 people
  • Electric / water – 2,800 Baht
  • Entertainment – 2,000 Baht
  • Visa Fee – 1,900 Baht
  • Cell phone /Internet – 500 Baht
  • Wash Clothes – 200 Baht

Total: 16,900 Baht or 502 USD

As you can see it is very possible to enjoy Thailand for months or even years on a fixed budget. Keep in mind, if you have health issues, your budget will increase, don’t hit the bar every night.

So until next time enjoy Thailand and have fun

    What is about:
    1. Gasolin for your Bike + 300 Baht?
    2. Health Insurance + ??

    3. 3000 Food for each People or for both? For two People 3000 not possible.

    • 1. Gas for your bike is about 100 or 200 baht a week
      2. Health Insurance is expensive, I pay Medicare Premiums for back in the US.
      3. 3,000 per person, we go to fresh market a lot and eat in .

  • I think what you said was very logical. However, what about this?
suppose you composed a catchier title? I am
not saying your content is not solid, however what if you
added a title that grabbed a person’s attention? I mean The 500 Dollar Budget in Thailand – Noodle Budget Travel Blog is
kinda vanilla. You could look at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create article titles to grab viewers interested.
You might add a video or a picture or two
to get people interested about what you’ve
written. Just my opinion, it would bring your blog a little livelier.

    • Your right. I am honestly just getting started writing . So I am learning what people like and don’t like, and I have started to add pictures t my posts. Thank you for the feedback, Sir. I will try to add more to the site as I improve.

Wrong kind of attention. Reminds me of a bulimic weight loss plan. You left a lot out.

And petrol isn’t cheaper here, the tank is smaller and it uses less. Terrible info bro!

      • Yes and no. Take Canada as my example and it becomes cheaper then say south america .

    • Really, I wrote this post when I first got here so at the time my thoughts were what I saw.
